I teamed up with Requisite Fitness East Falls in 2013 and never looked back. The coaches know movement, prioritize form and have built an amazing community of athletes that I am privileged to be a part of. Strength training at Requisite has been an ideal way to add balance and variety to the hours spent at the boathouse. More importantly, the community has been an incredible source of energy, inspiration and support.
WellPoint Oriental Medicine is a cornerstone of my training and racing success. In fact, I am rowing today thanks to the skill and expertise of Adam Schreiber, who helped me recover from recurring injuries in 2011. He and partner, Teresa Tat, practice Chinese and Japanese styles of acupuncture, as well as Chinese herbal medicine. I work closely with both of them to enhance recovery, promote sleep, prevent injury and support general well-being.
I started working with Dr. Mitchell Greene at GreenePsych Clinical & Sport Psychology after realizing that my mind, not my physical capacity, was holding me back on the race course. Dr. Greene helped me reconnect with my purpose for rowing and establish a higher level of confidence in my skill. He and I have since partnered in a professional capacity to help rowers in the Philadelphia area achieve their goals, love the sport and have some fun in the process.
Linda Edwards was a surprise addition to my support team in 2017. We started working together when Linda generously offered her time and resources to the high performance group at Penn AC. Linda practices IASIS Microcurrent Neurofeedback, which is a holistic treatment method and cutting-edge technology used to help optimize performance. Its benefits vary based on the protocol used but commonly include increased focus and decreased anxiety. Personally, I’ve experienced improved sleep, which has helped with recovery, as well as a definite boost in focus and mood!
Dr. Thomas Caley at East Falls Chiropractic is one of the most dedicated and passionate health practitioners I know. Chiropractic care, like acupuncture, has been an essential component of my ability to stay healthy and train consistently. Dr. Caley’s mission—to promote natural pain relief, boost mobility and enhance athletic performance—fits easily with my rowing and lifestyle goals.
Dr. Pro came through for me in a big way during spring training in Florida in 2017, and is now my “go-to” for bodywork and chiropractic whenever I’m town. Dr. Pro is an expert in Active Release Technique, and specializes in identifying sources of pain and correcting dysfunction. We’ve evaluated everything from my movement patterns and body mechanics in rowing and weightlifting to yoga and stretching at home. I even changed my single rig after seeing him, which helped eliminate a problem with my one of my hips. I’m sincerely grateful for Dr. Pro’s time, generosity and unparalleled expertise!
